You choose where your energy goes.

As a lawyer, I steadfastly believe that every individual deserves access to justice, irrespective of their socio-economic status or background.

When the conflict erupted in Ukraine, many individuals offered support in the form of monetary aid or transporting people to safer areas. While these gestures were undoubtedly commendable, I recognized that I could leverage my legal proficiency to bring about tangible change.

I take immense pride in having co-founded UA.SUPPORT, which in collaboration with Linking Help, has had a significant impact on the lives of countless individuals.

Volunteering – whether in politics, in society, in sports, in the social sector, or in legal services – makes our society richer. And something is accomplished that the state alone cannot do. So it is a commitment to others – often to those who need help, support, often to young people and children, often to the elderly and those who have already done a lot for our country. Ukrainian nationals need legal support and help.

I am very happy to offer pro bono legal services to those Ukrainians who are in need; so, volunteering is also an enrichment for those who do it, like myself. It is heartful and satisfying to see successes alongside your professional legal activities that would otherwise not take place.

UA.SUPPORT is promoting legal volunteering by creating an appropriate legal basis and network for civil engagement. Chapeau.

How does it work?

How many cases do I have to take?2024-03-25T07:49:03+00:00

We leave it to your discretion as to how many pro bono legal cases you choose to take on, but we do expect a commitment to take on a number of cases based on your capabilities and expertise.

Who pays for administration fees?2024-03-25T07:49:07+00:00

The person seeking legal aid can cover them, or it can be covered by third parties. In extreme cases, please reach out to us, and we may be able to allocate funds from our budget to cover these costs.

Many of the requests come from the people facing difficult situations, such as obtaining visas and temporary protection, and processing residence permits, as well as challenges with labour law or other contractual obligations, business permits, children’s education, problems securing or paying for medical care, fraudulent acts, insolvencies, or other crisis situations with legal implications that they are unfortunately unable to resolve on their own.

As a volunteer on our platform, you don’t have any specific duties or obligations. However, we encourage you to spend as much time as possible providing legal assistance to those in need. Your contributions are greatly appreciated and can make a significant impact on the lives of vulnerable individuals.

the seemingly unsolvable.

I am Tamara, a single mother born and living in Ukraine.

Currently I and my two little children, Ivan (5) and Igor (3), are fleeing from our village in Ukraine to save our lives but we’re stuck in a refugee camp because of visa obstructions.

Please help me and advise me on what I can do.

Tamara
Hello! I am Valentyna. I’m a refugee from Ukraine, and now I live in Germany.

My daughter, granddaughter and I lived in a two-room apartment in a five-storey building in Mariupol. In March 2022, our home was destroyed because of the war. In the state service centre, I registered my destroyed apartment, but nothing happened. Now the city is being run by different authorities. I am far away and worried. I have the documents proving the apartment is mine. I do not know what I need to do in order to avoid losing my right to the apartment.

Please help me.

Valentyna

I was registered as a self-employed person in Ukraine and received temporary protection.

Now, I need assistance with where to register to receive some financial support, as I have lost all of my income. I would like to ask whether in the future I can do business with a refugee status both in the new country and in Ukraine at the same time.

Many thanks, Oleksiy.

I am Svitlana, a 32-year-old teacher from Ukraine. I have two small children and used to lead a pleasant life there.

Then, on August 22nd, I had to flee Ukraine to save my children and begin a new life. I arrived in a small town in Germany. The problem is that the waiting times to get a visa are extremely long. I am therefore stuck in a refugee camp, waiting for the next steps.

Do you think you can help me?

Svitlana

I applied for legal aid after I found accommodation in Germany through a popular website for arranging accommodation.

The person offering the selected accommodation asked me to go through a verification process, referring me to a fake website, through which I also made a rental deposit and paid the first two months’ rent. I should have received a warranty card, but instead I lost the money from my deposit, as well as the two months’ rent. The money was transferred to an account in another country. I contacted the accommodation agent and it subsequently emerged that this was a fraud.

Can you advise me on what next steps I should take?

Maryna
